At Artisan Mithila, we take great care in creating, checking, packing, and shipping our handmade Madhubani/Mithila paintings and handcrafted products. Since our products are handmade, each piece may have slight variations in colour, texture, line work, patterns, and finish. These natural variations are part of the uniqueness and authenticity of handmade art.

Please read the following Refund & Return Policy carefully before placing an order on www.artisanmithila.com.

1. Eligibility for Return & Refund

We accept return/refund requests only in the following circumstances:

• The wrong product has been delivered.

• The product has been received damaged or defective.

• The product received is materially different from the product ordered.

• The order is incomplete or an item is missing.

For eligible cases, customers must contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

2. Damaged Products

If your order arrives damaged, please take clear photographs and a continuous unboxing video showing the package from the time it is opened.

The customer should retain the original packaging, shipping label, box, and packing material until the claim is resolved.

Please send the following to us:

• Order number

• Clear photographs of the outer package

• Clear photographs of the damaged product

• Unboxing video, if available

• Short description of the issue

Our team will review the claim and determine whether the product qualifies for replacement or refund.

3. Wrong Product Received

If you receive a product different from the one ordered, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

After verification, we may provide:

• Replacement with the correct product, subject to availability; or

• Refund of the eligible amount if replacement is not available.

4. Handmade & Artistic Variations

Artisan Mithila products are handmade and hand-painted. Minor differences in colour, brush strokes, line thickness, texture, dimensions, motifs, or patterns may occur from one piece to another.

Such minor variations are not considered defects and are not eligible for return or refund.

The actual colours of a product may also vary slightly depending on your screen, monitor, or device settings.

5. Non-Returnable Products

The following products are generally not eligible for return or refund:

• Customised or personalised paintings/products

• Products made specifically according to a customer's instructions

• Products damaged after delivery due to improper handling, storage, framing, installation, or use

• Products altered or modified by the customer

• Products without their original packaging where packaging is necessary for safe return

• Products for which the return request is made after the applicable return period

• Sale/final-sale products, where the product page specifically states that the item is non-returnable

This does not affect any rights available to customers under applicable law.

6. Return Shipping

If the return is approved because the wrong or damaged product was supplied by Artisan Mithila, we will, where applicable, arrange or reimburse reasonable return shipping costs.

For returns that are not due to an error, defect, or damage attributable to Artisan Mithila, return shipping costs may be borne by the customer, subject to the applicable product-specific return terms.

7. Refund Process

Once the returned product is received, it may be inspected before the refund is approved.

If the refund is approved, the eligible refund amount will normally be processed to the original payment method used for the purchase.

The time taken for the amount to appear in the customer's account may depend on the payment gateway, bank, card issuer, or other payment service provider.

8. Cancellation of Orders

Orders may be cancelled before they are dispatched, subject to the status of the order.

Once an order has been dispatched, cancellation may not be possible.

Customised or personalised orders cannot normally be cancelled once production or customisation has started.

If a cancellation is approved, the eligible amount will be refunded through the original payment method, subject to applicable deductions, if any.

9. Undelivered or Returned-to-Sender Orders

If an order is returned to us because the customer provided an incorrect/incomplete address, refused delivery, or was unavailable to receive the shipment after reasonable delivery attempts, we may contact the customer regarding re-shipping.

Additional shipping charges may apply for re-shipping.

Any refund, where applicable, may be processed after deducting applicable shipping, return, or other actual costs.

10. International Orders

For international orders, customs duties, import taxes, local taxes, clearance charges, and other charges imposed by the destination country are the responsibility of the customer unless expressly stated otherwise.

Artisan Mithila is not responsible for delays, non-delivery, or additional charges caused by customs authorities or the customer's failure to complete required customs formalities.

11. How to Request a Return or Refund

12. Inspection & Approval

All return and refund requests are subject to verification.

Artisan Mithila reserves the right to reject a return or refund request where the product does not meet the conditions of this policy or where the damage appears to have occurred after delivery due to customer handling.
